"Instead of making our theological seminaries merely
centres of religious emotion, we shall make them
battle-grounds of the faith, where, helped a little by the
experience of Christian teachers, men are taught to fight
their own battle, where they come to appreciate the real
strength of the adversary and in the hard school of
intellectual struggle learn to substitute for the unthinking
faith of childhood the profound convictions of full-grown
men."
- J. Gresham Machen, 1913
Please
note, we are a religious exempt university and only
have authority to grant degrees in Biblical Studies,
Divinity, Theology and Pastoral Care.

Core Values - DIEM:
The primary goal for
Coastland
University
is to equip students to be like Christ as they fulfill the
great commission. The challenge to follow Christ compels us to
pursue a personal and professional life-style of:
- Discipleship
Jesus told us to go and make disciples.
We have a desire to see students grow in three
vital areas of discipleship:
1. Spirituality Knowing Christ and discovering their
gifts
2. Relationships Showing Christ and sharing their
gifts with others
3. Ministry Making Christ known by utilizing their
gifts in the Church and in the world.
- Instruction
Instruction will come through the classroom and
extracurricular ministries.
However, the most important instruction will be
learning how to be taught by the Holy Spirit.
We believe God will speak to you, instruct you, and
guide you as you grow in your walk with Jesus.
Our teachers are simple vessels in the hand of God.
- Enrichment
The
goal of our instruction is your enrichment.
It is to cause you to grow into the person who is
equipped to fulfill the call of God on your life.
- Ministry
We
believe that ministry is not just a future goal its
a daily call. Our
desire is that you begin to be used in ministry from the
day you begin your course of instruction at
Coastland
University
.
By the time you
graduate, you will have more than a degree you will truly be
equipped to minister to this generation!
Our
Mission
:
Coastland
University
is here to equip the Body of Christ for ministry.
We are driven to provide the best
Christian
College
education without being a financial burden on our students.
It is summed up well in I Peter 4:7-11:
(7)
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound
judgment and sober spirit
for the purpose of prayer.
(8)
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another,
because love covers a multitude of sins.
(9)
Be hospitable to one another without complaint.
(10)
As each one has received a special
gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the
manifold grace of God. (11)
Whoever speaks, is to do so
as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is
to do so as one who is serving by the strength
which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified
through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion
forever and ever. Amen. NASB
Coastland Christian Bible College
& University is
guided by a well-defined philosophy that fosters a devotion to
learning and a commitment to excellence. At our core, we
desire that Jesus Christ be proclaimed to all nations.
Coastland
University
will prepare each student to become a competent
minister/teacher/pastor. We will accomplish this by drawing
students into an integrated experience of intellectual
challenge, spiritual growth, and leadership development. Thus
we will:
- call students to Christian character;
- expect academic excellence;
- equip them for success in their
Ministry/vocations;
- mentor them in leadership;
- prepare them for service;
We also see our
graduates going out into the Church and infuse them with love
and grace, helping bring about true unity to the Body of
Christ.
ACCREDITATION
We are currently a religious exempt University with
the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.
Make sure the Southern
California Bible College you are looking at is official -
Coastland's status here: California
Bureau of Private and Postsecondary Education
Coastland University will be seeking accreditation
by Association of Biblical Higher Education.
Currently, we are a religious exempt University by the
California State board of Education and have the authority
to grant Degrees in Ministry and Biblical Studies.
Is accreditation
necessary?
Not necessarily. No institution is forced to accept credits
from another regardless of accreditation or lack thereof.
It is always the prerogative of the receiving institution to
determine whether and which credit will transfer.
That said, colleges should not practice discrimination or
engage in arbitrary practices. The major higher education
organizations have affirmed the Statement on Transfer and
Award of Academic Credit originally developed by a joint
committee from the American Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers, the American Council on
Education (Commission on Educational Credit), and the former
COPA. This statement speaks to the issue of transfer credit
and observes that transfer of credit from one institution to
another involves at least three considerations:
(1) the educational quality of the institution from which the
student transfers,
(2) the comparability of the nature, content, and
level of credit earned to that offered by the receiving
institution, and
(3) the appropriateness and applicability of the
credit earned to the programs offered by the receiving
institution, in light of the student's educational
goals.
Accreditation is not required to be a recognized College or University.
It is a voluntary association of schools who hold to certain standards dictated
by the accreditation association.

ADMISSION
AND REGISTRATION
Coastland University welcomes applications for admission from any academically
qualified person whose motivation is in keeping with the university's purposes. Admission
is based on the careful review of all credentials presented by an applicant, but in no
case is admission denied due to race, color, national origin, disability, or sex.
Since we are a Church based model and a 501(c)3 we do not
'charge' tuition - it is donation based. However, since
you do receive an education donations for tuition are not tax
deductible. Donations above the cost of tuition
are. The suggested donation for tuition does not even
cover our costs. So if God leads you to tithe or make
donations, these are tax deductible and very much
needed. Students

Honor-based on high school grade-point average and SAT/ACT scores. Honor
students may be eligible for academic scholarships.
Regular-standard admission with no restrictions.
Conditional-students whose GPA and national test scores are below an acceptable

required to take courses in reading, study skills, and writing.
Provisional-freshmen and transfers who have a previous GPA below 2.0 on a 4.0
